Title: Film Music Festival in Krakow
Description: The festival is dedicated to music composed for movies and its date is connected with the 100th anniversary of the composition of the first film music (by Camille Saint-Saëns). Since that moment directors and composers influence each other - what results in creating exceptional music that adorns films. The opening of the festival is planned for the 29th of May 2008 in Krakow Philharmonic where the concert "100 Years of Film Score" will take place. Renowned orchestra "Sinfonietta Cracovia" will present the most popular pieces of music composed for Polish, European and American movies. There are also plenary concerts planned on the following days. On 30th of May French composer - Eric Serra together with his band RXRA Group - will play on Krakow's Blonia fragments of film music composed by him. Eric Serra is best known for cooperation with Luc Besson and creating music for films such as The Big Blue, Nikita, Leon, The Fifth Element and Artur and the Invisibles. On the 31st of May - also on Krakow's Blonia (that is a large clearing situated in teh centre of Krakow) spectators will be shown a part of Peter Jackon's trilogy The Lord of the Rings. Sinfornietta Cracovia Orchestra, Pro Musica Mundi choir, boy's choir and soloists will perform film score.
